The machining precision and efficiency are two important indicators for manufacture. The machining efficiency focusing on the point-to-point drilling, tapping and chamfering is improved by proposed method. For the optimization of tapping machining, there are two categories of machining holes: 1) all the holes are same size and machining by the same process; 2) there are different size groups of the holes and they are machining by different process. In the first category, the machining is formulated as a typical combinatorial optimization problem, naming the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). The target is to minimize the machining path. In the second category, a two stages optimization, process and TSP optimization, is proposed to solve this scheduling problem. Firstly, the process is optimized by minimizing the tool change. And then the same machining process with the same tool in the same set of holes will be degenerated into first category. In this thesis, the Tabu optimization algorithm is applied because it is suitable to solve the combinatorial optimization problem.
