Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 光電工程系研究所 === 103 === In this thesis, we propose a director model to explain and analyze the electro-optic characteristics of polymer-stabilized blue phase liquid crystal (PS-BPLC) cells. By means of stacking a certain number of nematic liquid crystal, we simulated the experimental result. By the route through voltage multiplier (M), we got the stacked layers of nematic liquid crystal (Mz), and obtained the simulation result. The simulation and experimental results are quite consistent. Next, we analyzeed and discussed the electro-optic characteristics of the PS-BPLC, and found that direct model can also describe the relation of induced birefringence and electric field that has already been described by Kerr effect. Furthermore, in the model, we found that the refractive index change of PS-BPLC is linearly proportional to the cosine square of the averaged angle of the director with respect to the direction of electric field. In addition, we used the blue phase simulation software, LCD-Master, and got the electro-optic characteristics of PS-BPLC cells. Comparing the result with the director model, we found the director model more coincident to the experimental result. In the future, the model can be applied in the design of the product because the simulation the most consistent with the actual situation. It will have a great help to the design related to the PS-BPLC display.
