We mixed the monomer, which could be polymerized by UV light with the dual-frequency liquid crystal in the fixed ratio, and exposed to the UV light through a photomask. The high pretilt angle of liquid crystal formed at the exposed region, so liquid crystal was stable at the unexposed region. The initial state was molecular arrangement of left-hand twist(LT) and it could switch the voltage of the different frequencies .Due to the change dielectric anisotropy with dual-frequency liquid crystal , the cell could operate at the left-hand twist(LT) and right-hand twist(RT) to achieve bistability. The study was divided into two parts. The first part was creating the bistable LC cell of three different thickness and discussing the electro-optical properties. The second part was analyzing optical studies from the result of the first part, using compensation films to increase contract ratio, and discussing the optical properties.
