The natuare terrains of Taiwan mainly are hills and montains, which account for around two thirds of the territory. There are more than 200 mountains which are above 3000 meters. Hikng, trekking, and mountaineering have been one of the most popupar outdoor activities. The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of destination image, activity involvement, recreationist-environment fit , flow experience, and place attachment on destination loyalty of mountaineers and trekkers in Taiwan. This study adopted questionnaire survey. The participants were mianly trekker/hikers in central Taiwan. A total of 243 questionnaires have been issued and there were 216 valid responses, which reached an effective response rate of 88.9%. The results of the study showed that both the destination image and activity involvement play significant roles on the place attachment. In addition, the activity involvement also play a significant role on the flow experience. And, finally, both the the place attachment and flow experience play significant roles on the destination royalty for mountaineering recreation.
