Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 社會學系 === 103 === Being a left-handed is a physiological phenomenon. Left-handed persons might have to face some special problems, but they may also have certain unique advantages. With the time goes by, many reports show that the number of the persons who are willing to demonstrate themselves as left-handed persons is gradually increasing. In this study, based on the literature review from psychology , medicine , education and related area we explore the talents and socialization process(growth, lift adjustment, mentation, and tool using) of left-handed people. We use snowball sampling to reach our data and then do quantitative analyses including basic statistics, factor analysis, and regression analysis. We also conduct qualitative interviews with some representative left-handed persons, including those who use their left hand to do things in any state, and those who already use their right hand to do something on some behavior. The empirical results show that most of the left-handed people are not as anticipated in the literature, in which they hesitate to move forward, lose their faith or deliberately conceal themselves while they use their left hand. On the contrary, most of them are not only optimistic and enterprising but also full of confidence. After in-depth interviews, we discover that respondents think the education of their family is very important, which means parents’ attitude, concept and the way of education to them when they were children have a profound impact on their growth process. However, in performance talent, whether in music, art or sports, they have come up against some difficulties and bottlenecks, especially on the equipment choosing and using. But most of them have conquered them. The results reflect that the strengths and weaknesses on many kinds of competition of left-handed persons could help them to use the strengths of themselves and overcome weaknesses in the social behavior of the development process. They can also deal with the etiquette and habits on daily life and always on the optimistic side.
