Dependency of Ecotourism Development and Community Building—Taking Longtian Village in Luye County as an Example

However, it is much more difficult than other kinds of tourism activities because it needs more community resources to maintain and develop a complete ecological environment. Therefore, this study aims to understand the process and features for a community to develop ecotourism and further explore the interaction of a community developing ecotourism and driving community building so as to build a perfect experience mode for a community to develop ecotourism. Taking literature analysis, in-depth interview, narrative analysis and other qualitative research methods, this study made an in-depth interview on six core pushers in the communities by taking Longtian Village in Luye County as a case. It is found that the community needs basic conditions to develop ecotourism, including ecological experts, ecological environment, history humanities, local products and community organizations. The major difficulties are shortage of social creativity concept, personal interests’ barrier, insufficient resource and environmental impact. The major pushing actions are combination of ecological interests, ecological idea promotion, action building demonstration, planning resource and basic talents cultivation. Moreover, there exist four different dependencies between community developed ecotourism and community pushing community building which are community vision dependency, organizational resource dependency, ecological system dependency and mutual benefit dependency. Longtian Village all faces problems that need to breakthrough in the above four aspects in ecotourism development, so they also meet dilemma in sustainable development. In sum, they made a mistake to limit ecotourism connotation in natural ecological value but ignored to combine in-depth community building with cultural ecology and industry ecology in the village, making it a more complete and dependent ecological system.
