Summary: | 碩士 === 南臺科技大學 === 休閒事業管理系 === 103 === “Working Holiday” is a new travel style includes work, travel, and culture-experience, different from other travel. And it’s a way that could work to pay expense of travel and stay abroad for long time; therefore the travelers will face many different problems from traditional way of travel. The applicants are getting more and more by years since the government opened the “Japan Working Holiday” in 2009. Both Taiwan and Japan are in Asia, have close but different cultural background, except with Australia, New Zealand and the other countries that have already started the program for many years. The respondeut of this study are 10 travelers who had participated in the program, to discover the connection between cross-cultural adjustment and self-development by semi-structured interviews. The result found that the motivation to working holiday in Japan could be categorize into changing present situation, language and skill learning, and desiring to know about Japan. Life adjustment of food and drinking and living is good, excluding expensiveness of transportation and out eating. Language could cause barriers with work and communication as just arriving Japan; they will be overcome after staying awhile. The biggest difficulties that couldn’t overcome are to get along with colleagues and friends in Japan. The interviewees all feel changing and self-growing after being working holiday, and they mention the most is self-growing that including psychological changing, independence, expending of thinking way, enhancing of emotion controlling, and enlarging interpersonal relationships etc.
