碩士 === 世新大學 === 性別研究所 === 103 === This study initiates from analysing texts of print media documented from 1961 to 1975, to peruse hence distinguish Lin Ssu-Tuan's identities divergently portrayed as a 'nude model' and 'dancing artist'. Apart from establishing a chronic account in modern historical manner, the primary objective is to redefine Lin's subjectivity by deconstructing patriarchal depictions and representations in prejudice rendered by the media. Moreover, by the merit of intertextuality, Fairclough's critical discourse analysis will also be employed to examine the semiotics aroused with such a labeling status-nude model, which implies much about stigamitisation, thus relentlessly imposed on Lin owing to rhetoric of media. While the main thesis of this study is attempting to provide explanations on the strong effects of such stereotype embodied as a label of nude model regardless Lin's true being, the prospect is also set forth to release Lin's image from the confinement which overly venerated her as 'the first nude model in Taiwan', as we may compliment the character of Lin Ssu-Tuan more on her endeavor and professionalism as a dancing artist.
