Candidates exhaust all channels and platforms in the attempt of drawing close the distance between them and voters. Their efforts enable the concerned voters to choose the most suitable political figure in leading the future of the nation through information perceived from the various channels. Among all the channels, the one that wins the highest attention of voters; which tests the candidates’ ability in spontaneous responses; that provides an in depth understanding to the policies and ideologies of the ruler; the one channel/platform that best represents a nation in electing her supreme leader is the televised presidential debate. Televised presidential debate is not a regular program produced by a TV station. Its development in Taiwan is most recent and unprecedented. From project planning to broadcasting, there are many obstacles during the production of such a program. How a production team that is assigned at the 11th hour to manage multiple tasks within a limited time, using a perfect pre-planning as the stepping stone to accomplish the production of the televised presidential debate in live broadcasting will benefit the citizens’ political involvement. However, there have yet reference materials for the complete production process of a televised president debate that match the culture in Taiwan, as well as standardized production procedures to follow. Due to the above reasons, this study intends to explore the production process of PTS in producing the televised presidential debate and analyze its multiple production experiences to serve as a reference foundation of future news workers that are in the field of televised presidential debate. This study will also explore through interviewing PTS production team the important elements that affect the production of televised presidential debate, assisting the future production teams to conserve the time and cost for a smooth production of high quality and popular televised presidential debate program. This study will initiate from vertically studying the overall program flow, aiding with each production stage job allocation to go in deep on the spontaneity and technicality of program production. The following four study topics are set based on the innovation et all qualities in the future program production for the purposes of combing for standardized program production procedures and suggestions for elevating the program. 1. What is PTS production procedure for televised presidential debate? 2. How does PTS present the televised presidential debate? 3. What factors affect the process of televised presidential debate produced by PTS? 4. How to elevate the televised presidential debate quality produced by PTS?
