Through reviewing Chiang Kai-shek’s anti-communist thoughts and stance, this thesis attempts to study how our government made decisions about the seat in the United Nations and explore the reason why the Republic of China insisted on holding the policy of never compromising with the rebellious Chinese Communists and its influence on our country. As early as Kuomintang started its revolution to reform China, Chiang Kai-shek was caught in the middle of continuing clashes with Chinese Communists. By studying Communists, working with them, fighting with them, Chiang built a basic understaning of Chinese Communists. Later, while leading the campaigns of Northern Expedition, Rounding up Communist Rebellion, Sweeping Communist Unrest, Chiang became even firmer in his stance against Chinese Communists. This paper sorts out Chiang’s important speeches in his career to understand how he inherited Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary ideas, how he used the theory of the union of mind and material to counter materialism, and how he used the theories of Sun’s People’s Livelihood to argue against the communist theories about class struggle. Finally, this paper places an emphasis on how Chiang employed his will power to fight Chinese Communists’ efforts to take the seat in the United Nations. Looking back at the process of Chiang’s fight against Chinese Communists, we realize that he fully understood the damage that communism might bring to our nation and he relied on China’s traditional thoughts and the legitamacy of our constitution to counter Chinese Communists. As a result, while insisting on his stance, Chiang was flexible enough in his decisions regarding his diplomatic efforts to maximize our national interest during the battle over the right to represent China in the United Nations. 談遠平 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW |
