| Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 103 === The subtitle of thesis is exploring in the first movement of Tabub-Tabuhan-Toccata for Orchestra and Two Pianos -Ostinatos, which is created by Colin McPhee, (Canada, 1900-1964). Be a west musician who is humbly asking for the oriental music,uncovers his idea, culture, and displays the composer's expression in his historical context. This piece not only blends many elements of Bali's music, but also deeply embodies the implications of aesthetics of blending the eastern and western. I felt unfamiliar when Bali’s music listened at first time. It is different from musical form which has main subject in tonal music; and aesthetic experience in the past. For the author, indicated by blending of different aesthetic perspective, was a new touching and reflection. Through this piece, I hope to seek the meaning of process how to build the text by McPhee, not only analyzing the structure by rationality but also exploring the origin of sensibility how the listener produced by the music.
