碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 103 === The late nineteenth-century French flautist, Paul Taffanel (1844-1908) had many contribution on flute education, composition and performance, his influence far-reaching impacted on future generations. This thesis attempts to discuss Taffanel’s work "Andante Pastoral et Scherzettino" with its music analysis and interpretation in order to understand Taffanel’s importance on The French flute school. This thesis consists of five chapters; the first chapter is the introduction to explain the purpose of this thesis and motive, scope and methods. The second chapter is Taffanel’s life and half 19th century French music development, as well as discussion the rise of the French flute music and Taffanel’s influence on the development of French flute music. Chapter three is the musical analysis on harmonic basic structure and song structure on “Andante Pastoral et Scherzettino.” Chapter four is based on song analysis of “Andante Pastoral et Scherzettino” and adds my personal interpreting recommendation and opinion after playing the song. The fifth chapter is the conclusion which summarizes the contents in preceding chapters and adds my personal experience to conclude the thesis./ J. S.
