Description
Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 103 === This paper explores western Surrealist paintings and the philosophy espoused by Zhuangzi (a Chinese Taoist), analyzed beside the electronic composition “Everything comes from oneness” composed by myself. By describing the emotional changes one experiences as one meditates and scrutinizing the process one encounters when making music, I make an effort to illustrate my ideas regarding music composition. While Surrealism stresses a subconscious expression that integrates reality and fantasy, Zhuangzi’s philosophy centers around a pursuit of the “real self.” Both Surrealism and Zhuangzi’s philosophic ideas will be presented in this composition, in which rationality (composing skills) and sentimentality (a philosophic idea about “oneness” within the universe and oneself) achieve a harmonious state.
