Summary: | 碩士 === 實踐大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 103 === This is a thesis of wind repertoires of United Kingdom and United States in 20th century. For United Kingdom, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite, Malcolm Arnold’s An Original Suite, and Gordon Jacob’s Four Scottish Dances are chosen for researching of the British wind music’s development. For the United States, Howard Harold Hanson’s Chorale and Alleluia, Martin Mailman’s Liturgical Music, James Clifton Williams’ Symphonic Dance No. 3, "Fiesta", and William Francis McBeth’s Kaddish are selected for making observation on the American wind repertoire.
The score and parts of lyrics of 9 folk songs selected for the English Folk Song Suite are discussed in this thesis. Followed by introduction to the development of Eastman Wind Ensemble at the Eastman School of Music in New York, which has offered the first Doctor of Musical Arts degree in the U.S..
