It is a comprehensive art that involves music, literature, language, and social culture and expresses the sentiments of a person’s interaction with another or with Mother Nature through the vocal music art. The primary concern of this paper is to discuss the application of diction and tune techniques in vocal arts and proper control of the vocal organs and resonance cavity to express the thoughts, sentiments, and artistic concepts of a song for the enhancement of musical rendition. The paper mainly focused on the application of diction and tune techniques in vocal arts and applied the vocal techniques obtained from the study and analysis and the eight Chinese songs to the study. The scope of the study includes the following: (1) An introduction of the vocal organs and the correlation and utilization of these organs; (2) A description of the correlation between the four groups of vowels and five phonemes of diction and the first and middle characters in the vocal arts, the correlation between the thirteen rhymes and final-character ending rhyme, and the use of music score format for clarity; (3) An analysis of the musical form and interpretation of a selection of two Chinese opera songs and two Chinese classical songs; and (4) An analysis of the musical form and interpretation of a selection of two Chinese folk songs and Chinese art songs. The author hopes to obtain a more accurate utilization of skills, diction, and interpretation in terms of vocal arts through this study and to be able to properly employ fine vocal arts and tune techniques.
