Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 心理輔導學系 === 103 === This study explored the effect of child-centered group play therapy with bereaved children. The study recruited two bereaved second-grade children, their parents, their teachers, and the group therapist. Bereaved children received child-centered group play therapy once a week for 12 weeks, each session lasting forty minutes. Children’s parent/guardian received interview from the researcher prior and after group play therapy and filled out the Parenting Stress Index (PSI) and Child Behavior Checklist For Ages 6-18 (CBCL/6-18). Participant’s teachers were interviewed prior and after group play therapy and filled out the Teacher’s Report Form For Ages 6-18, (TRF). Additionally, the group therapist was interviewed by the researcher after group play therapy was completed. The length of each interview was 50-60 minutes. Data was analyzed based on grounded theory. The main results of the current study were as follows.
1. One child was able to express herself gradually in group play therapy which enabled herself to express emotion and to build more confidence to face separation.
2. The other child moved from negative and imaginative behavior and thoughts to more real and independent ones, and tried to adapt to a new life.
3. Parents and teachers use different perspectives to view children’s grief reactions, to perceive their own grief and limitations, and to actively assist children's bereavement.
Based on the results of the current study, the author provided recommendations
