The purpose is to design an eco-friendly system with the energy-saving and apply it to the industrial vehicle. After comparison of different hybrid system about their configuration and characteristics, the range extender hybrid system is selected as the most promising alterative. Based on the simulation programs for analysing the operation of this system, a hybrid forklift which excels conventional power system in performance and emission is designed. The content of this paper is divided into two parts. First, a simulation program of MATLAB, including the basic parameters of the power system of gasoline, diesel or electricity is constructed to simulate the performance characteristics such as driving, climbing, and lifting etc. By analyzing these various systems, the main advantages and disadvantages can be discussed. The simulation results can be compared with the real vehicle test results to verify the accuracy and reliability. Then, a simulation program for a new range extender hybrid system is constructed and used to simulate various performance test.
