During the digitalization process, the television industry has faced an unprecedented change in the digital broadcasting ecosystem. Nowadays, all the audiovisual contents can be easily uploaded through the internet and spread all over the world; moreover all the display devices (PC, television, or any compatible portable devices) can broadcast all the audiovisual contents at ease. The viewers can search and watch all their desirable audiovisual content anywhere and anytime. Not surprisingly, the digital television industry is confronting the fiercest competition, only by constantly reviewing their own business model so that they can survive and stay competitive. Based on the nine-element business model framework proposed by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010), the current study intends to analyze the content of case companies’ business model by collecting data through in-depth interviews. The study seeks to describe the current Taiwanese digital television channels’ business model and propose a feasible future business model for the case company by adapting changes that embraces viewers’ demands and making good use of the technology to create an innovative business model and achieve sustainable competitive advantage for the case company.
