However, there are typically multiple inhabitants in a real home, full of social interactions. The purpose of the research is to develop an interactive mediator which can help negotiate conflicts caused by different preferences of different users. In this paper, we investigated the issue of preference conflicts caused by multi-user sharing a smart environment through a 3-stage study. First, we conducted an ethnographic study of living experience to obtain the insights for the development of smart home. Second, we made a concept video to help us envision how the smart system interacts with human. Finally, we proposed a design of an interactive mediator based on the concept video and conducted an evaluation. The results show that the mediator help multiple users negotiate by externalizing their preferences and intents. Furthermore, the real-time interaction allows users to express their needs and help to increase the ability to negotiate with others. Lin-Lin Chen 陳玲鈴 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 98 zh-TW
