Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 營建工程系 === 103 === Fire is one of the most common disasters. Once the building is on fire, it often causes serious losses of life and property. The fire disaster is mostly caused by human negligence, so its damage can be mitigated by fire prevention and a proper escape plan. In case of fire, how to help people escape becomes very important. Thus, this study will focus on fire escape guiding.
Most of the previous studies focused only on the escape path planning. The conventional fire escape guiding system is to place the escape signs near the exits and label directions on the walls. This system is too static to efficiently guide escapers leaving the building when the fire spreads to different locations and thus blocks the original escape paths to the exits. Besides, the smoke caused by the fire often blocks the view of escapers. Therefore, this study intends to develop a mobile application to be implemented in a dynamic fire escape guiding system. The application can be run in Android smart phones, while the entire system includes layouts database and smartphone sensors. When escapers move, the proposed system will read the node numbers entered by the escapers, calculate the shortest path to the exits by the Dijkstra’s algorithm, and send the suggested path to the mobile application using direction arrows. When fire spreads, the system would re-calculate the path and update the direction on the mobile device. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed mobile application have been tested and demonstrated in a real-life case study.
