Beijing Shougang Jingshun Rolls Co. Ltd., a subsidiary affiliated to Shougang Group, is an exception in this regard. The company, with its successful business model innovation, has increased the influence of China’s self-manufacturing rate on the industry by researching and developing large H-shaped steel rolls, and thus it has achieved excellent market performance in comparison to other steel roller mills in China. The key successful factors and business model innovation of Jingshun Rolls Company comes to be the research target. The research method is based on depth interviews with key figures, supplemented by use of the historical data. After the case analysis, this study proposes a MEFAS-RC innovative business model of rolls industry which includes five major innovative elements in the roll industry: material breakthroughs, experience sales, focused marketing, alliances, and supply chain in real-time. In addition, reorganization and culture are two supporting forces that can help a business in this context. The MEFAS-RC model can be further verified in future research.
