It is also the first country to systematically categorise creative industries. With the tremendous growth in value of creative industries and their contribution to employment rates recently, this shows a well-implemented creative industry strategy which enhances the economic growth. The UK government has ambitions to expand this business into international markets by exporting creative products/service to bring more business opportunities for UK economy. This study firstly uses qualitative research methods by interviewing experts in the creative industries to get an insight into the UK’s creative industry development in Taiwan. This includes their strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as well as the challenge and difficulty. Secondly, it uses quantitative studies to collect data and opinions from the general public on what they know about creative industries, and what they think about the UK and what they expect to see from UK creative industries in Taiwan. Lastly, there is a collection of secondary data in terms as a reference. After analysis, we conclude that the penetration of UK creative industries in Taiwan is not as high as expected. The reason is Taiwan was Japan’s colony where influenced by Japanese culture so deeply. Therefor, this research suggests that UK can work towards five aspects as below: 1. To increase recognition of the UK through images 2. To decrease the cultural differences through cultural awareness 3. To position the market and target audience 4. To find suitable local partners 5. To focus on five sub-sectors for future cooperation: museums, music & performing arts, architecture, fashion design and product design.
