Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 工藝設計學系 === 103 === The vast and profound Chinese culture fascinates the world. Chinese culture is very popular around the world. Infusing product design with oriental elements would appeal to both Chinese and global consumers. Chinese characters are the most precious cultural heritage in Chinese culture. Poetry, lyrics, and verses embody the profound Chinese history and the beauty of Chinese characters, both in form and in conception. The beauty of poetry conception, if incorporated with product design, would increase the product value, and generate more economic output. Poetry and literature have not yet been a common theme in cultural industry designs, and even less jewelry designs have incorporated poetry conception. Carrying thousands of years of history, classic Chinese poetry is sophisticated and unique in style. Properly applying Chinese poetry in modern jewelry design would not only enrich the product’s cultural connotation, evoke identity and echoes in consumers, and create new possibilities for Taiwan’s cultural industry, but also promote and preserve the precious cultural heritage of traditional Chinese poetry and literature.
Hsu, C. H. (2004) mentioned that while designers design products, they are always follow the design model and process. Similarly, the cultural product design should also have their design patterns and procedures. Therefore, this research will also develop a suitable metalworking jewelry design model. This research reference Hsu, C. H. and Lin, R. (2011) ” Design framework and process for cultural products ” . According to the three layers and levels of cultural objects and design features, this research presents the corresponding analysis of the artistic conception of poetry.“People” and“objects”of poetry correspond to“ the outer level ”;“scenery” and “affairs,”of poetry correspond to“ the mid level ”;“emotion” and “reason”of poetry correspond to“ the inner level ”. By plowing through Chinese landscape and pastoral poetry’s background, development, cultivation, and famous poets and poems, this research devised a model appropriate for jewelry design. Interpreting poetry according to its “emotion,” “reason,” “scenery,” “affairs,” “people,” and “objects,” this research converted classic Chinese landscape and pastoral poetry into different themes of jewelry design. The artistic conception of poetry was creatively converted to accessories that are both aesthetically and commercially valuable. The feasibility of this cultural design model was tested by actual jewelry designs and crafting. Through actual operation, this research aims to construct a jewelry design model that incorporates Chinese poetry, to represent Chinese poetry’s artistic conception in modern jewelry design, and to provide reference material for like-minded designers.
