Altering strategic thinking and business models to achieve congruence with the changing environment is a must. That is, a firm has to develop dynamic capabilities, the competencies to adapt, integrate, and reconfigure internal and external resources . The study utilities qualitative case study methodology, aiming to illustrate the exploitation of resources and capabilities along the way of Taiwan’s traditional manufacturing factories transferring to tourist factories. Based on literature reviews, the study introduces a theoretical framework, namely, opportunity search, resource acquisition, and resource reconfiguration to investigate why and how the firms adjust their strategies and business models, how the firms acquire indispensable resources and capabilities, especially , the similarities and differences of their approaches as well as capacity accumulation, and last, what resource reconfiguration they achieve. The research result shows that industry environments influence the firms sensing new market opportunities, obtaining and exploiting resources, which leads to heterogeneous ways of resources acquisitions and capabilities-cumulating processes. In the basis of past capacity, the firms apply replication, renewal, exploration three paths and their combinations to form dynamic capabilities. Through the development of dynamic capabilities, the firms improve manufacturing processes, launch new products or services, build up routines and rules, as well as renew business models.
