Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 心理與諮商學系碩士班 === 103 === In this thesis, I adopted self-narrative method to describe my career experience as a figure skater, from which, I then discussed the insights and self-identity issues of career transitioning to a counselor. Through this writing process, I found that my career experience as an athlete gave me much courage to step into the challenges of becoming a counselor, as well as finding a new self-identify.
This thesis took a different approach from the traditional thesis structure: the first chapter describes my internal conflict between the present role of apprentice counselor and my past role as professional athlete; the second chapter focuses on the once splendid sport career; the third chapter discusses the career transition process and the rise of the new career as a counselor; the forth chapter uses the Clandinin&Connelly’s three-dimensional narrative inquiry space to structure the dialogue; the fifth chapter contrasts literature and thesis text to extract the commonalities between the two seemly different paths of career; the sixth and last chapter describes how I used the skills I acquired in sports to overcome the obstacles in career transitioning.
