碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 103 === This thesis includes two works, the first one is Clara Schumann’s “Variationen uber ein Thema von Robert Schumann, Op. 20”, the other one is Robert Schumann’s “Bunte Blatter: Funf Albumblatter, Op. 99”. Both Robert and Clara are German musicians in 19th century, also the famous couple in classical music history. They often present music to each other being a medium of communication. In the late years of Robert’s life, he collected works have not been published as a song cycle, and named “Bunte Blatter”. The “Bunte Blatter” had been published in 1852. The “Bunte Blatter” divided in three parts. Clara quoted first song of the second part “Bunte Blatter: Funf Albumblatter” as the theme to compose “Variationen uber ein Thema von Robert Schumann” for Robert’s birthday in 1853. Chapter one is introduction to describe the research motives and purposes, and setting research range and methods. Chapter two divided in three sections researching Clara’s “Variationen uber ein Thema von Robert Schumann”. The first section of Chapter two is the biography of Clara Schumann. The second section of Chapter two introduces the background of this work. The third section is the analysis and interpretation of the work. Chapter three research “Bunte Blatter: Funf Albumblatter” in the same method as chapter two. The conclusion in chapter four collates and summarizes the researching result of chapter two and chapter three.
