In this study, ten NIMBY facilities are selected as factors to evaluate the effect they produce with regard to living environment quality. Geographic Information System (GIS) is used to analyze and illustrate disparities and distribution of places—all in Taipei City—where these NIMBY facilities are situated. Furthermore, by examining the collected questionnaires, residents’ satisfaction, attitude, and thinking concerning the relation between residential living environment quality and NIMBY facilities are also discussed in this research. Various weighted values have been given to those NIMBY facilities so as to understand what impact they have on the quality of residential environment. Using GIS analysis turns out that the most affected area is located in the southeast of Da’an District in Taipei City, where the properties in the two villages, Fang-he and Li-yuan, fetch low prices under the influence of public tombs, morgue, crematorium, substations, and gas stations. In addition, the study takes Fang-he Village and Li-yuan Village as targeted modules and, through the analysis of questionnaires, finds residents’ low satisfaction to the NIMBY facilities, which, from the perspective of locals, cast a shadow on the comfort of their living environment. However, due to the convenience of living, traffic, and shopping, residents are overall contented with where they live. This explains the decision residents make when they consider a place to live is not merely affected by NIMBY facilities, the types of which and the distances from which do not stand for inferior living environment quality but only major factors that influence it. Key words: NIMBY facilities, living environment quality, satisfaction, GIS, influence distance. Chih-Chung Tsao 曹治中 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 114 zh-TW
