Many researches have revealed that cross-strait direct shipping has lowered the transportation cost and brought many business opportunities since December 2008. In this dissertation, we are going to analyze the changes in the volumes of the throughputs of the major ports in Taiwan and China. We compare the volume changes before 2008 and after 2008 so that the effects of the cross-strait direct shipping can be revealed. The major ports of Taiwan and China are clustered into five areas: the economic rim of Bohai, the Yangtze river delta, the south-east coast area, the Pearl river delta, and Taiwan. In our research, we find that the volumes of the throughputs are getting more and more concentrated in the economic rim of Bohai since 2008. The growth rate of the throughputs in Taiwan is deteriorating since 2010 although the transportation cost is getting lower because of the cross-strait direct shipping. 李選士 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
