With the advance of technology, RFID sensors were introduced in the new guard patrol systems. But the functions of RFID sensors based guard patrol systems are still limited. With the gradual increase use of smart phones in recent years, the use of smart phones is the new trend for guard patrol systems, which not only can extend the functions of a guard patrol system, but also can reduce cost and improve the management of the campus safety. This study aims to use Bluetooth low-energy technology iBeacon with NFC to provide the sensor functions needed in guard patrol systems. Our design uses smart phones and outdoors/indoors positioning technologies combined with back-end management functions to provide a variety of intelligent services to the campus patrol guard. In addition, if an emergency event occurs while on patrol, the safety reporting system can be used to report the emergency situations. The system also supports offline patrol while Wifi is not available in the patrol path. In other words, in the absence of network environment, the system can temporarily retain the patrol attendance data in the smart phone and wait for data transmission until internet is restored.
