Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 體育學系體育科教學碩士班 === 103 === This study is conducted by qualitative case study research method, observing and interviewing thoroughly with the subjects. The interviewee included two cases, their parents, coach and teammates, as to minimize potential bias and increase the reliability of this study. We aim to investigate how the home schooling table tennis player plan their standard curriculum, table tennis training, and the problems they will face when they go back to school.
Result: The result of this study showed that these two home schooling table tennis players do well in elementary school, not only preforming significantly in table tennis competitions, but also getting good grades in school. However, when entering junior high school, although still doing well in table tennis fields, their academic performance declined tremendously. After returning to school, they exhibited maladaptation to school routine, poor grades, and poor adaptations to team training modes.
Conclusion: We recommend tennis players who prefer home schooling may choose this method during elementary school years. If home schooling during junior high school years is intended, parents must pay attention to academic learning in addition to table tennis training. Profession teachers for academic learning is needed, and we also recommend returning to school for examination at regular intervals for evaluation of effects of home schooling. Meanwhile, they should spend some time each week in school, to participate in team work and school classes, in order to adapt to future school life.
