The Comparison of Answering through Pictures by Using Large Print Book and Tablet for Students with Low Vision

碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士在職專班 === 103 === The purpose of this study was (a) to compare the performances between the large print book and the tablet during students with low vision answering through pictures, and (b) to discuss their feeling and experiences about two kinds of devices. Seven students with low vision with junior high school certificate above were invited to attend an examination. The examination was divided into two tests. First test was printed in the large print book and the magnification times was 1.5. Second test was put in the Tablet. During tests, their responding time, answers, reading distance, and their experiences and feelings were recorded. The student T-test was used to compare the results of responding time and reading distance. The founding were summarized as following： 1. The responding time of Large Book was significantly slower than Tablet. 2. The difference of the correct rate between two tests was under 30%. 3. No significant difference of the reading distance was detected between Large Book and Tablet. 4. The disadvantage of Large Books was the size and weight from all participants’ comments. Most of participants preferred Tablet than Large Book. At last, the results of this study serve as some suggestions for the education administrators and further researchers.
