The method of action research is adopted. The participants were 23 elementary school students who were 5th graders from Taichung city. The intevention lasted for 16 weeks. Prior to the the intervention of literature circle, the participants received a self-concept pre-test and then a pilot study was conducted before the formal study. In order to understand the change of learning behavior and growth, the data resources included questionaire, interview, observation notes, and teacher’s reflection dairy. The data analysis is based upon the researcher’s evaluation of her own reflextion about the teaching model and the products from the students. Also are the feedback of double cycles of revised actions and self-concept post-test. The integration of qualitative and quantitative data analysis offers more understanding about the model of literature circle and the goal of professional development. Relevant conclusion and suggestion are made. The conclusions are listed as the followings: 1. The response of the participants towards the reading activity of literature circle is good and positive. 2. The reading activity of literature circle can significantly students’ promote self concept. At last, the result is discussed and further suggestions are made in order to offer referent for relevant teaching and future research.
