Adequate awareness of postnatal care can help reduce mortality and morbidity among mothers and their babies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish the factors influencing the awareness of postnatal care services at a rural community health Centre, the Gambia Methods: A clinic based cross-sectional study design was conducted at Upper river region using a convenient sample of 150 mothers attending infant welfare clinic at Basse major health centre, upper river region, the Gambia. Result: The study revealed that 94% and 89.3% of the postnatal mothers interviewed were aware of immunization and important of postnatal services respectively. In stepwise logistic regression analysis, factors influencing awareness of postnatal care service was significantly predicted by the following: age (p = 0.04), postpartum depression (p = 0.01), assisted vaginal delivery (p = 0.01) and marital status (p = 0.2). Conclusion: The study has shown a high level of awareness on immunization and important of postnatal care services but shown poor awareness on other postnatal services like family planning and umbilical caring. Therefore there is a great need for health education and programs that would empower women with better health information at communal level. Su-Chen Kuo 郭素珍 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 73 en_US
