It is because any medication administration error (MAE), which has been commonly made by medical personnel, will influence or even endanger patients’ health and safe. Hence, this study introduced the updated DeLone & McLean Information Systems Success Model into one medical center in Southern Taiwan to evaluate benefits of implementing the system. The methodology of the study adopted cross-section study to experiment on a group of medical personnel in a general ward unit. The research was designed two methods to collect data. One was structured questionnaire, which mainly explored system quality, information quality, service quality, satisfaction of users, and benefits of using the system. Another was open questions, which collected suggestions for using this system. The research was conducted from October 16th, 2014 to November 20th, 2014 and got the agreement from 232 medical personnel to be research objects. The research result showed that the average score of satisfaction of users was the highest and the one of benefits of using the system was the lowest. Moreover, the study showed information quality was strongest ingredient to satisfaction of users. Its correlation was 0.83 (p < 0.01). As to the feedbacks for open questions from the research objects, the positive opinions were clear frame of the system, great system design, and conveniently connection to pharmacy department. On the other hand, the negative ones were time-consuming for changing pages, slow Internet connecting, and computer crashes. By introducing the information system, the MAE rate showed obviously variation (t : 77.62, P < 0.001). In the operating procedure of unusual medication administration, the rate of non-following standard operating procedure (SOP) was from 63.27% to 45.97% after introducing the system. As to the rate of the lack of the SOP, it raised from 5.09% to 13.71%. Finally, the rate of non-double check increased from 4.1% to 9.17%. The study concluded that the research objects showed positive approval to the information system and verify the system could reduce MAEs. To improve the caring quality and raising safety of medication administration, this study hopes to be able to offer relate data for the system setting or adjustment.
