Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 教育心理與輔導學系碩士班 === 103 === The purpose of this study is to explore the Taiwan Hakka females in modern times marital adjustment process, and how the process had influenced the Taiwan Hakka female understanding of traditional Hakka women’ characteristics. A semi-structured in-depth interviews is adopted in this qualitative research. Seven pieces of information are collected through interviewing three females who have self-identity as in modern times Taiwan Hakka females, and had lived in Hakka community until they graduated from junior high school. Data collecting was based on transcription of the interviews. Thematic analysis was used to decide strategies and steps of analyzing.
Results of thematic analysis indicated three themes to interpret the Taiwan Hakka females in modern times marital adjustment process, and how the process had influenced the Taiwan Hakka female understanding of traditional Hakka women’ characteristics. First, how tradition among Family-of-Origin shape women. Second, the imbalance between self and family. Third, the imbalance in marriage to rebalancing.
Hakka females in modern times marriaged often Struggle between depression from Hakka traditions and gender equality, which also highlights the significance of Hakka traditions to Hakka females in modern times . Still, the Hakka females in modern times is empowered and re-balance the marriage by reinterpreting family values. Finally, this research provides limitations and suggesting research instrument for further research.
