Taiwan has approached an aging society, which brings many problems among elderly people. Therefore, this research explores leisure athletic, leisure activity and social participation to have effects on self-esteem and quality of life among middle-aged & older adults. In addition, older people has many opportunities to decide appropriate leisure athletic and leisure activity due to both developing society and escalation of quality of life. There exist various social, psychological, and health problems among elderly people. In order to reduce chronic and psychological diseases among older people, enhance of quality of life and intensification of leisure activity are essential issues in contemporary society. This research conducted a survey at Nantou City and Caotun Township and created 250 effective questionnaires. The results show that leisure athletic and social participation may heighten the level of self-esteem, as well as leisure activity, leisure athletic, and social participation reinforce the level of quality of life. Leisure activity, leisure athletic, leisure activity, leisure athletics, and social participation, and social participation present positive correlation. Furthermore, leisure activity and self-esteem exist relative significant positive correlation. Quality of life and self-esteem exist relative significant positive correlation. According to regression analysis, leisure activity has a relative significant positive influence on quality of life.
