Hence, the purposes of the study discuss the cultural diffusion and exchange between China and Japan, and explore the interpretation of Kokan Siren on Chinese poetries. The research method utilizes the comparative literature, reception aesthetic, and misreading theory to investigate the thought of Kokan Siren for Chinese poetries when the country, language, and culture are considered. Because of misreading,Kokan Siren proposed the poetry concepts could be similar or unique with Chinese literatures. Therefore, according to the research purpose and method, the study is organized by the following six chapters. The first chapter shows the research question, research purpose, research area, research method, and research limitation. It also depicts a lot of related literatures for the topic of the study. The second one shows the background of Kokan Siren’s poetry. The study discovers that the cultural diffusion and exchange between China and Japan obviously impacts on the Chinese literatures in Japan, and the Kokan Siren learned Chinese literatures by himself at home,firstly, and then his thought wasaffected by the YishanYining (一山一寧) who was a Buddhist monk in Yuan Dynasty and the literature concepts in Song Dynasty. The third one analyzes the literature concept of Saihokushu of Kokan Siren. Kokan Siren thought the content of literature has tobe perfectly logical and reasonable; the literaturehas to be moral. An excellent literature owns the character, which everyone can savorand understand.Moreover, it has to show that the literature talent of a writer. The forth one is the Kokan Siren’s and Chinese critical remarks (1): Poetry and Meaning. The chapter and the fifth one focus on Saihokushu. The chapter comparesthe concepts of Kokan Siren with Chinese poetry reviewers for the rules and meanings of Chinese poetries. The fifth one is the Kokan Siren’s and Chinese critical remarks (1): Poetry and thing. The chapter discusses that Kokan Siren proposed his viewpoints for Confucius, Yuan-Ming Tao, Long-Ji Li who is known as Emperor Ming of Tang et al. The sixth one is conclusion, which summarizes the previous chapters in the three points: Firstly, the cultural diffusion and exchange between China and Japan makes Gozanbungakuzenshu flourish in Japan; furthermore, theSaihokushu is the most important publication of Kokan Siren’literature thought; finally, Saihokushushows the comparison and expectation for Chinese poetries. Briefly, the Gozanbungakuzenshu will not be like a literature orphan after comparing Chinese and Japanese literatures. Its related issues and researches will be concerned continuously. The study suggests that researchers can compare Chinese literatures with Japanese ones from Gozanbungakuzenshu to Edo periods.
