Many educational courses adopt applications such as: smart eBook App(automatically make classroom progress record )and interactive exploration App( by simply taking a photo get relevant information of an insect or animal). Such App make the traditional paper education digitized, so everyone seems to have bit professional teachers accompany the side. The purpose of this paper is to develop a plant identification system for campuses by implementing an iOS App on smart phone devices. This research focuses on two - dimensional image processing based algorithm design classify the leaves by processing the images of the leaves and then report the top three potential leaves along with their relevant information. To be implemented on the smartphone, this paper proposes a low - complexity way to identify leaves basing on leaf contour, take the features as convex hull, the minimum circumscribed circle area and up / down angle of the tip to classify leaves. The proposed plant identification system can be utilized the ecological park, botanical gardens and national parks for ecological teaching and learning.
