From the early e-mail, BBS, blog, MSN, Yahoo Messenger service, to the rise of the social networking, such as Facebook, Twitter, Plurk and so on. The service provided by these community service platforms significantly varies the human''s life and behavior. Among the many community sites, Facebook is popular with users in Taiwan mostly. The growth rate of using Facebook in Taiwan is the number one in the world. The main Facebook users are young students. This shows that the influence of Facebook on students is significant. On the basis of the social cognitive perspective, the study is to explore the relief of junior high students'' emotional stress by using Facebook. The study includes three dimensions: environmental factors (the technological environment constructed by Facebook, the subcultural environment of junior high school students), individual psychology (self-efficacy, outcome expectation), and the relief of individual emotional stress. The results show that: (1) The technological environment of Facebook (instant) and the subculture of junior high school students (sense of peer belonging, peer support) shows a positive effect on personal self-efficacy. The self-efficacy also shows a positive effect on the relief of the emotional stress. (2) The technological environment of Facebook (instant) and the subculture of junior high school students (sense of peer belonging, peer support) shows a positive effect on outcome expectations. The individual outcome expectation also shows a positive effect on the relief of the emotional stress. (3) The model constructed by the study can provide a credibility for explaining that it is useful for students using Facebook to relieve their emotional stress.
