Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育與學習科技學系 === 103 === Abstract This study aims to explore the teaching status and competence of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city and to investigate the interrelation between them. The questionnaire survey was adopted in this study. 506 teachers teaching health and physical education at elementary schools in Hsinchu city were recruited. The number of valid replies were 459, and 91.90% valid questionnaires were retrieved. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Person product-moment correlation. The results of the study are shown as followed: 1.The teaching status of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city reached a high-intermediate level. 2.The recognition of teaching competence of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city reached a high level. 3.The comparison of the teachers’ teaching status between different groups, the results indicated that teachers who got higher scores on the teaching status of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city are males, less than thirty years old, graduated from department of physical education or health education of universities, and not home-room teachers. 4.There are no significant differences in the recognition of teaching competence of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city with different background variables in general. But there are significant discrepancies in some aspects. 5.There are significantly positive correlations between the teaching status and the recognition of competence of health and physical education teachers at elementary schools in Hsinchu city. According to the above conclusions, the study provided some suggestions for the educational administrative organizations, elementary schools, teachers, teacher training institutions, and future educational researchers.
