碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 臺灣文化學系 === 103 === Abstract As the R.O.C relocated its govemment to Taiwan, in order to place large veterans, the Veterans Affairs Council was fouded and arranged the placement service in four sub-plan:’to be educated’, ‘to be employed’, ‘to be nursed’ and ‘to be medical treated’. Yuli veteran Hospital (YLVH),which founded in 1958,was edveloped in this past-war context. IN the four parts of thesis, we will study the development and contribution of YLVH frow its initial stage to turning stage. YLVH was mapped to be a special agency for psycho veterans in the plan of ‘to be medical treated’. As time went by,the patients came from all over Taiwan and were no longer veterans only. With the number of patients up to 4,653 in 1980s, YLVH was the biggest agency for mental disorder in Taiwan. Why did YLVH work without riolent community opposition over half century? How did YLVH become a psychic-specialized hospital, which well-knowned by Yuli model in psychic-rehabilitation, from a placement agency for mental disorder had been dubbed ‘Public Lon-FA-Temple’. We will follow the contest to study the development history and community relation of YLVH. And sketch the contribution, in related aspects.
