This study investigates Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Taiwan Indigenous People Culture Park, both are Taiwan's first multi-ethnic "model culture" and "centralized style performances" established to preserve and promote indigenous culture. Tourists travel to “remote” indigenous model culture in order to learn the history and cultural of different indigenous groups, and also to satisfy their desire for interracial imagination. The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Taiwan Indigenous People Cultural Park are both forms of eco-museum, characterized by a combination of education, hands-on activities, and a new form of entertainment, all have functional properties similar to traditional museums. This comparative study of the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Taiwan Indigenous People Cultural Park examines the differences in their exhibiting indigenous people’s culture, and the construction of indigenous images in public and private operators. As such, this study also discusses how to better present and promote indigenous culture, and how to facilitate multicultural exchanges through government projects and market forces. Also included in this study is the introduction to Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii as a reference template, with discussions of Austronesian aborigines’ "model culture" to promote cultural exchange and culture learning in a globalized world.
