The purpose of the study is to explore the using and effects of RFID technology, combined with interested environmental stimulus to enhance autistic spectrum disorder students express needs. This study was based on a multiple baseline design across participants, including (A) baseline phase, (B) intervention phase, and (M) maintenance phase. The experimental results showed that during the baseline phase, the mean of communicate for subject A was 0, while subject B was 0. With the intervention of RFID combined with environmental stimuli, the mean of communication for subject A reached to 12.92, and subject B reached to 11.85 during the intervention phase. The communication behaviors for both subjects were significantly increased from the baseline to intervention phase (p < .01). From the intervention to maintenance phase, subject A’s data was not significant (p < .01), subject B was not too. Even so, both subjects kept high communication behaviors in the maintenance phase, the mean of communication behaviors for subject A was 13.20 and subject B was 12.80 , respectively. The performance of the two subjects showed significant improvement in the maintenance phase (p < .01). Besides, this study showed that the two subjects can express needs via the RFID combined with interested environmental stimulus in the intervention phase or the maintenance period.
