In the field, they accumulated lots of Taiwan Indigenous People's Folktale gradually. This thesis mainly focuses on the research of Taiwan's two texts covered by Folktale of the monograph among aboriginals such as "Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes" (Chinese version) during the period of time. We use "motif" and "types" as the analysis method, and we are about to do the further comparison and dicsussion based on the data from the two books above and the formal field survey we gain in decades. There are totally nine chapters in this thesis as follows: Chapter Ⅰ: Explaining the research motive and purpose. The thesis reviews Taiwan Indigenous Peoples' Folktale collection process during the Japanese colonial period , as well as the research materials and methods. Chapter Ⅱ: Introducing the boods " Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes", the authors, translators, and literature. Meanwhile, the reference of the two books, related thesises, monograph as well as thesises will be listed. Chapter Ⅲ:Discussing the content, tribe distribution, and motif of the "Seiban densetsushū". Examining the content and architecture of the book, tribe distribution in the past and for the present, and analysis for the related information of oral narrative and the "motif". Chapter Ⅳ:Discussing the content, tribe distribution and motif of the "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes". Examining the content and architecture of the book, tribe distribution in the past and for the present, and analysis for the related information of oral narrative and the "motif". Chapter Ⅴ:Discussing the "Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes" in the groups myth patterns. With "motif" as a key point of observation, we intergrate representative, the special "mythological" narrative of the two books above. Otherwise, we classif them into several topics. Chapter Ⅵ:" Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes" in the legend of all nationalities patterns. With "motif" as a key point of observation, we also integrate the representative and the particularity of the "legend" narrative of the two books. We also classify them. Chapter Ⅶ:" Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes" the story of all nationalities type. With "Aarne-Thompson classification system" as the basis for classification, We introduce and discuss tribe groups in oral narrative related "type" models of the two books. Chapter Ⅷ: "Motif" gain and "Type" hyperplasia phenomenon and their significance. Introducing " China Folktale society " adopted by the Taiwan Indigenous Peoples' Folktale. Login "motif" and "type". Taking "Seiban densetsushū" and "The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes" data analysis for comparison. Discussing "gain" phenomenon of motif and its significance, as well as the phenomenon of "type" and its significance. Chapter Ⅸ: Conclusion & summary.
