The pooled semen was manually collected from two or three Duroc boars at a time, totally six times. A total of 24 cryopreservation treatments were applied to each batch of pooled semen. The analysis of post-thaw semen quality was used to evaluate the combinatorial effects of the various conditions. The best qualities of thawed semen were observed in treatment 9G (3% glycerol, dry ice, 0.5 mL, 60℃/8 sec), followed by treatment 8G (3% glycerol, dry ice, 0.5 mL, 50℃/12 sec), 9GD (1% DMA with 3% glycerol, dry ice, 0.5 mL, 60℃/8 sec), 12G (3% glycerol, dry ice, 0.5 mL, 60℃/8 sec). There was no significant difference (p> 0.05) among these four treatments (9G, 8G, 9GD, 12G) in post-thawed sperm motility (52 ± 8% vs. 51 ± 8% vs. 52 ± 7% vs. 47 ± 7%), sperm viability (58 ± 10% vs. 59 ± 8% vs. 57 ± 8% vs. 53 ± 11%). In conclusion, the combination of glycerol alone, low straw volume, low freezing rate and high thawing rate is suitable for semen cryopreservation in boar. in dry ice, and pack alone.
