The results are as follows. There are 131 kinds of trees, 52 kinds of shrubs, and 54 kinds of herbaceous planted in these communities. The majority of plants are woody plants, which make up 76.8% of the population. Among the woody plants, 65.85% of the trees are native species while 84.6% of the shrubs are exotic. Evergreens and flowering woody plants are the favorite choice among the 30 communities. And the green reform mostly takes place in the parks. Using principal components analysis, factors whose eigenvalues are greater than 1 and which explain 75% of the variance were selected. Then varimax is adopted to group related variables and form the main factors. The six main factors include climate, crown vigor, tree growth, axis persistence, ground covering and tree damage. These factors demonstrated high explanatory power, accounting for 77.19% and 75.21% of the total variance in summer and winter, respectively. Using discriminant-analysis to assess the health level of the plants among the communities, it was found that the adaptability of the trees ranges from good to moderately maladaptive. Very few communities were ranked mildly maladaptive. There was only one community ranked moderately maladaptive in winter. It is expected that the findings of this survey can have some implications for community green reforms and plantation management. Kuen-Yih Ho 何坤益 學位論文 ; thesis 90 zh-TW
