The research includes the practitioner’s consideration, observation of the effect on clients in art therapy, and the introspection of the whole processes. The main findings of the study were as follows: 1. The practitioner’s considerations in art therapy include (1) plan the goal with cient’s main issue, not focus on the self-injuring behavior; (2) consider the appropriate expression form, or referral to other resources; (3) increase client’s self-determination to reduce the resistance and anxiety; (4) practitioners not only use client- centered approach as their primary intervention, but also consider client’s issue to be more directive; (5) practitioners provide media based on media properties, client’s state, and the level of crisis; (6) practitioners use their own attitude and create a safe, confortable environment to encourage clients using arts in therapy. 2. The practitioner’s observation of the effect on clients in art therapy are (1) art therapy help clients to catharsis, and feel positive emotion; (2) clients can displace or sublimate their self-injuring behavior through art; (3) metaphors and symbols of art help clients face their issue safely, and aslo increase conversation; (4) clients can increase self-control, fulfillment, confidence, and self-concept through art; (5) client’s artwork helped connecting counseling experience, generalized the positive learning in art therapy process. 3. The practitioner using art therapy on client who with self-injuring behavior must pay more attention to system cooperation. Practitioners use client’s artwork, provide advice and parental education to help others to understand client and know how to interact with client. Practitioners also have to adjust pressures and anxiety which from the counseling with self-injury clients. Practitioners have to promote art therapy to increase the opportunity of using art therapy. The researcher further discusses the findings from this study, and makes suggestion on the practical aspects and future researches. 高淑貞 學位論文 ; thesis 170 zh-TW
