This article establishes a competency model for store managers by reviewing the literature related to competency and interviewing experts in the industry and examining the characteristics of every store manager in different competency models and the relationship between these characteristics and the evaluation of performance. The examination results show that competency in professional skills of store managers in professional hardware stores can better respond to performance evaluation compared to core competency and management competency. The results of this article can be used as a reference for professional hardware companies in setting competency models for store managers and as a basis in setting performance evaluation of in the future.
