Statistical methods including descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and multiple regression were utilized to analyze the data. Based on the data analyses,the major findings were as follows : first, chinese language national core competence performance of students in Taichung city junior high school is above moderate scale and creativity performance of them also belongs moderate scale. Second, the difference between male and female on chinese language core competence performance of students in Taichung city junior high school reached significance , and the differences among students’ grade or their parents’ SES partly reached significance. But there’s no significance between going to and not going to cram school for extra chinese classes. Third, the difference among gender, grade and parents’ SES on Junior high school students' creativity in Taichung city partly reached significance. However, no significant difference appears on whether the students have extra chinese classes. Fourth, there was significantly affirmative correlation between chinese language national core competence and creativity of students in Taichung city junior high school. Fifth Students’ Chinese language national core competence can affirmatively predict their creativity and the most explanatory power of predictive variables is " systems thinking and problem-solving ." According to these findings, some suggestions for educational guidance were proposed.Moreover, recommendations for further studies were offered in this dissertation.
