碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 運輸與物流管理學系 === 103 === An appropriate number of taxi for a city is important. Too many taxi causes low income for taxi drivers while a shortage of it causes passengers inconvenient. This study tried to find factors that influence number of taxi, as a basis for number of license to issue. Moreover, Minister of Transportation And Communication has been trying to advance public transport in Taiwan. This study also tried to investigate the relationship between public transport usage and number of taxi so that it could be used by the government to decide what to do as public transport usage increases. This study uses multiple regression model to investigate possible factors. Meanwhile, two experiments were designed in the study in order to test two factors proved significant in the previous studies, which are public transit usage and no-car households. Multiple regression model reveals that population and public transport usage are two significant factors influencing number of taxi in Taiwan.
